Henry Cejudo and Song Yadong will meet in the UFC Fight Night 252 main event this Saturday, and while that might not seem like such a big deal, it’s actually quite remarkable.
Improbable even.
That’s because, get this: When Cejudo won his Olympic wrestling gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, a Song was a 10-year-old boy outside the arena selling souvenirs.

UFC social just showed me this. I was selling souvenirs outside of the Olympic arena in 2008 in Beijing and Henry won his gold medal. @HenryCejudo time flies! pic.twitter.com/wtFD3ZZQ5c

What are even the chances?!? This just blew my mind!
Almost 17 years later, Cejudo (16-4 MMA, 10-4) and Song (21-8-1 MMA, 10-3-1 UFC), now 28, are just days away from meeting inside the octagon at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. (ESPN+) It’s an important fight for both men, but probably more so for 38-year-old Cejudo. The former flyweight and bantamweight champion is trying to avoid the first three-fight skid of his career.
