Lauren Price Dominates Natasha Jonas, Captures Undisputed Welterweight World Championship – Jones vs. Price Highlights

Olympic gold medalist Lauren Price is your new undisputed women’s welterweight world champion!

Price started strong in the opening round, landing a couple of solid right hands as Jonas continued to download information on her opponent. Price’s solid start continued in the second when she caught Jonas with an early left and closed the stanza with a right hand that landed clean, knocking Jonas off balance.

Through the first five rounds, the speed advantage of Price allowed her to control the action and practically land on Jonas at will. Jonas began to target the body of Price, but every time she closed the distance, she would be met with a flurry of punches and unable to land anything substantial of her own.

Price closed the seventh round landing a left followed by another stiff right just before the bell.

Likely recognizing she was down on the scorecards, Jonas attempted to put pressure on Price in the eighth round and find her target. However, Price’s speed continued to be a puzzle that she simply couldn’t solve.

Jonas went down early during an exchange in the penultimate round, but the referee ruled it a slip rather than a knockdown. Jonas got back on her front foot, but that only prompted Price to continue lighting her up with an onslaught of right hands.

With the final round upon us, Jonas came out swinging for the fences and connected with a solid left hand near the one-minute mark, but for every blow she’d land, she’d eat two more from Price. With 10 seconds to go, Price looked for a last-second KO, but Jonas survived the late-round flurry, sending us to the scorecards.
