Rising UFC star Jean Silva has called himself the people’s hero following his triumph over Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314.

Last Saturday night, Jean Silva picked up the biggest win of his career thus far. In his highly anticipated grudge match against Bryce Mitchell, he was able to completely shut down his opponent en-route to a nasty submission win. His striking was on point, his grappling was solid, and he proved why he’s viewed by many as a future contender in the featherweight division.

Of course, the rivalry between Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell was pretty heated heading into this one, which led to increased attention on the bout and interest in how it would play out. For Silva, it was a case of proving once again why he’s so highly thought of within the sport.

In the aftermath of his win, Jean Silva had some pretty interesting things to say about his controversial foe.

Jean Silva calls himself the people’s hero after UFC 314

“I’m fairly confident that I’m the people’s hero now. If they were in need of one, Jean ‘The Lord’ Silva has arrived! This win wasn’t just for me—it was for everyone who believed in me and wanted to see justice served inside the octagon.

“We mapped out every scenario before this fight—whether it ended in a knockout or submission or even if we took damage along the way. My team at Fighting Nerds is incredible; we train harder than anyone else so that when we step into the octagon, we’re ready for anything.”

For Silva, it’s all about seeing what’s next. He’s put Mitchell in his rear-view mirror and given the momentum that he now has, you’d have to imagine there’s going to be another big fight on the horizon for the Brazilian.
