Following Oktagon 70, Oktagon MMA hosted the draw for the next round of the Tipsport Gamechanger Middleweight Tournament. Matej Penaz, the tournament favorite, will face Polish powerhouse Piotr Wawrzyniak. Everyone was hoping to see the long-awaited matchup between Vlasto Cepo and Matej Penaz, which we could still see in the Semi-Final, but we still get a banger.
Matej Penaz
Dana White’s Contender Series Veteran Matej “Money” Penaz was the favorite going into the tournament and proved why he is at Oktagon 66. Penaz made lightwork of David Zawada, finishing him in round 1. 9 of Penaz’s 10 wins come by way of KO/TKO, he is heavily predicted to at least be in the final of this tournament. Penaz stated before the draw that he wants to fight Vlasto Cepo, whom he has been matched up with on 3 separate occasions, but the way the draw went, it didn’t work out.
Piotr Wawrzyniak played spoiler. When he was given the choice of Penaz, or fellow Polishman, Krzysztof Jotko, he went with Penaz. However, they are on the same side of the bracket, so if both Penaz and Cepo win, we can still get that fight.

Piotr Wawrzyniak
The Polishman showed the Polish Power at Oktagon 70, when he knocked Marek Mazuch out cold. Known for his toughness and determination, Wawrzyniak gave himself no easy task for his Quarter-Final bout. The former Champion will be looking to halt the momentum of Penaz, and make a run at the final. No matter how the fight is going, Wawrzyniak can’t be counted out. Wawzyniak will likely be a sizable underdog, but Penaz will have to be on his A-Game to defeat him
