Off the back of his impressive win over Carlos Prates over the weekend, Irish striker, Ian Garry has laid out a three-fight plan after his UFC Kansas City — which stunningly includes a clash with current lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev. Particularly if the Russian makes a welterweight move.
Garry, who is likely to improve on his number seven rank in the official welterweight pile later this year, returned to winning-ways at UFC Kansas City over the course of the weekend.

And taking main event honors in Missouri on short-notice, Portmarnock striker, Garry handed Contender Series alum, Prates his first promotional defeat in a one-sided unanimous decision win.
Annoucing plans to fight for the welterweight crown next, the Irish striker is the official back-up to next month’s title fight at UFC 315 between the incumbent, Belal Muhammad, and incoming title challenger, Jack Della Maddelana.
Ian Garry welcomes future Islam Makhachev fight
Laying out a three-fight plan which includes a title charge and a rematch with Shavkat Rakhmonov, Garry also claimed he would “welcome” a future pairing with pound-for-pound number one, Makhachev.

“The biggest fight you could put on in the welterweight division right now is [IanGarry] vs. Belal Muhammad,” Ian Garry told Ariel Helwani for Uncrowned. “There’s no doubt about it. And then everyone should take a step back and give Islam (Makhahev) the respect he deserves, the P4P #1, if he wants to move up… I’d absolutely love to welcome that.
“You go out there and you beat the P4P #1, you take that spot, and then I’ll get the revenge against Shavkat (Rakhmonov),” Ian Garry continued. “That’s a 3-fight plan that I could get behind.”

Returning from his first promotional loss at UFC 310 last December, Garry had been sidelined since he dropped a back-and-forth unanimous judging loss against the unbeaten, Rakhmonov in the pair’s short-notice co-headliner at the tail end of last year.
