Jake Paul has used Paddy Pimblett‘s win over Michael Chandler as a comparison for those who have criticised his upcoming showdown with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

On June 28, Jake Paul will make his long-awaited return to the boxing ring. When he does, he will square off with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – a boxer who many believe was never really able to live up to the hype in his career. Despite that, he’s still enjoyed a string of big paydays in his career, most notably against Canelo Alvarez.

Across his last few fights, Chavez Jr has entered the ‘alternative’ boxing space with fights against the likes of MMA fighters Anderson Silva and Uriah Hall. Next up, he’ll be facing Jake Paul, who is the biggest name in this particular sub-genre of boxing.

In a recent post, Jake Paul made sure to hit back against those who have been going after him for this fight booking – and he used Paddy Pimblett in order to make his point.

Jake Paul voices his frustration

“Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is a former world champion, a cruiserweight world champion,” Paul begins in the promotional video above. “The same weight as me, the same size as me, and 20 years more pro boxing experience than me. For you inbreds, let’s get the excuses out of the way.

“Last week, Paddy Pimblett beat Michael Chandler, and the whole world lost their minds, but not a single person mentioned Michael Chandler’s age! That’s because he’s still within his prime age, the same age as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. People didn’t have a problem with Paddy, why do they have a problem with me? So when I beat him, don’t even try to cry about his age.”
