Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. doesn’t think too highly of Jake Paul’s boxing skills, but he sees potential in the YouTuber star.

After defeating 58-year-old ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson in one of the most-watched fights in combat sports history, Paul is turning his attention to another legendary pugilist. On Saturday, June 28, ‘The Problem Child’ will go toe-to-toe with Chavez Jr. in Anaheim as part of a DAZN pay-per-view event that will also see former UFC champion Holly Holm return to the ring for the first time in over a decade.

Recently, Chavez Jr. and Paul had their first face-off at an official press event to promote their fight in The Golden State. Afterward, the former WBC middleweight champion offered his honest assessment of Paul’s skills during an interview with The Schmo.

“I think Jake is, like, not a great skilled boxer, you know, but he’s very strong and he can box,” Chavez Jr. said. “So, with three or four more fights, he can fight anybody.”

Chavez Jr. wants to beat jake paul for the fans

Though he’s amassed a solid 11-1 record, Jake Paul’s success has been a source of frustration for fight fans. A majority of his victories have come against past-their-prime MMA fighters like Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva.

He’s also picked up a pair of first-round knockouts against a couple of nobodies and landed a unanimous decision W against Tyson in a fight that ultimately failed to live up to the immense hype.

Knowing how tired purists are of seeing Paul make a mockery of their sport, Chavez Jr. made it clear that he wants to beat Paul, not just for himself but for everyone who’s been itching to see ‘The Problem Child’ get laid out by one of the legends he keeps picking fights with.

I want to beat Jake Paul for you guys!” Chavez Jr. said.
