Former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor appears to have had an eagle eye on last night’s UFC 317 headliner between Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira, lauding the Spaniard after his crushing vacant lightweight championship win.
Headlining his third straight flagship event for the promotion, Topuria minted himself as the undisputed lightweight champion — in rather spectacular fashion to boot.

Matched with former divisional kingpin, Oliveira, Topuria would follow through on his pre-fight prediction — flattening the Sao Paulo star with a brutal opening round knockout win.
And lauded by those in the community after his success, Topuria even managed to fins himself on the good list of former two-division champion, McGregor, who admitted he was a fan of the Spaniard, congratulating him on repeating his title successes in the Octagon.

Conor McGregor praises Ilia Topuria after UFC 317 win
“Congrats on winning my old titles, Ilia (Topuria),” Conor McGregor posted on his official X account in a now-deleted tweet. “He said he gonna rest his balls on Paddy’s (Pimblett) head too, hahah fair play. Good LW (lightweight) scrap that one is as well imo (in my opinion).
“UFC is back? Or still missing something…?” Conor McGregor continued. “3 KO’s back to back is very good. No one can deny the knockout. I like. Unlucky to Charles (Oliveira) also. Styles make fights! You are a tremendous and legendary UFC fighter. Rest up.”

Already lining up his return to action as the new lightweight champion, Topuria was joined in the Octagon by promotional-perfect challenger, Pimblett.
Goading the Liverpool grappling ace during their impromptu face-off, Pimblett was shoved by Topuria during the staredown — before security officials corralled the duo.
