Try as he might, Conor McGregor couldn’t quite outdo Bryce Mitchell on Friday.
McGregor posted on social media to insult former opponent and fellow ex-UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, his family and his culture. The post included multiple racial epithets for Black people.
At this point in McGregor’s career, there isn’t much to say from a news standpoint. It’s merely the latest controversial post in a career filled with them. Suffice it to say, McGregor is approaching four years without a fight and recently was found liable for a sexual assault in Dublin. He’s been accused, but not convicted, in other alleged sexual assaults, as well.
He has a long history with Nurmagomedov stemming from a submission loss to him in a title fight and post-fight brawl that got them both suspended by the NSAC. Nurmagomedov retired in 2020 unbeaten in his MMA career, but ahead of when many expected him to – he said in response to the death of his father, who was his coach.
