Tatiana Suarez suffered an unexpectedly deep and nasty gash on her knee during her UFC 312 title fight with Zhang Weili, and it’s safe to say she’ll never forget it.
The injury occurred in the early going of Round 2 after Suarez apparently sliced her knee along the base of the cage while attempting a takedown, which isn’t common. In between rounds, the cameras showed just how deep it was, and you could hear Suarez asking her corner if it was bad. She wouldn’t even look at it.

Suarez later shared a graphic photo of her stitched-up knee. And, yeah, that’s going to leave a mark.

After winning the first round on all three judges’ scorecards, Suarez was beat up and dominated by Weili for the next four. Weili retained her title with a unanimous decision win by scores of 49-46, 49-46 and 49-45. It was the first loss of Suarez’s career.
