LAS VEGAS – Hyder Amil feels his fighting is for the people, and that’s why he doesn’t want to fight anymore at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Quickly catching the eyes of many MMA fans, Amil (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has put on fun showings with devastating finishes and wild wars in his short UFC run. At Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 253, Amil defeated William Gomis (14-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) in a hard-fought split decision that had many watching from home raving over the action. However, not many people got to witness Amil’s upset win in person, as he competed at the UFC Apex – which is a UFC owned facility with small capacity compared to arenas.

“My fights are way too exciting for the Apex,” Amil said at the UFC Fight Night 253 post-fight press conference. “I can’t imagine if my last fight was in an arena – people would be going bonkers. Even this fight, also.

“Please put me in an arena. I feel like I fight better with people. It’s just always more exciting when you win in front of people. And you know what? UFC is about having spectacular fights. Watch all my fights. Every time I fight, the roof is going off. Just expect that if I fight in an arena.”

Amil entered Saturday’s event as an underdog, and after losing the first round, he was able to rally back and get a gutsy win. Despite the bout being close, Amil was confident he was keeping his undefeated record that night.

“He might’ve got gifted that last one, but I was pretty confident I got that because I got the takedown, and I was landing the harder shots,” Amil said. “Also, I did the featherweight division a favor by taking Gomis out. Every one of my fights is exciting. Come watch me fight. You’re going to get your money’s worth.”
