UFC star Paddy Pimblett has spoken about the trials and tribulations that come with being in the limelight.

As we know, Paddy Pimblett is rapidly becoming one of the biggest names in the sport of mixed martial arts. Last weekend, he took things to a whole new level. He was able to not only defeat Michael Chandler in the co-main event of UFC 314, but he also dominated him.

The former Bellator champion simply didn’t have an answer for what was coming back his way from Paddy Pimblett, with the man known as ‘The Baddy’ implementing both his grappling and his striking in a really smooth, well-rounded performance in Miami.

Of course, with fame comes a certain level of scrutiny and attention, as Paddy Pimblett spoke about in an interview prior to the event.

Paddy Pimblett discusses fame

“Fame is a double-edged sword. It’s brilliant getting paid more money and having people recognize you, but at the same time, you can’t just go out for a meal with your missus or hang out with your mates without getting pestered. The people around me keep me grounded—my teammates, my wife since I was 16, and my family. They’re my day ones.”

Whether you love Paddy Pimblett or you hate him, there’s no denying that he has all the makings of a fighter who can be the next big thing. He has clean up massive parts of his game and in addition to that, he’s also one of the bigger fighters currently competing at 155 pounds.

How much longer can he safely make the weight? Who knows. What we do know is that he’s right in contention for a crack at the UFC lightweight championship, and with just one more big win, he could be booking himself a date with Islam Makhachev.
