WWE WrestleMania 41 is set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend and the hype is really starting to build – except for those fans out there who aren’t really into having a good time.
In the eyes of some, this edition of WrestleMania is quite similar to that of WrestleMania 31 all the way back in 2015. What we mean by that is simple: the build wasn’t very good, but the actual event itself proved to be remarkable.
In our mind, this proves a couple of different things. One: the IWC is slowly becoming an increasingly more negative environment, and two: boy oh boy have fans become spoilt since Triple H first took over as the new boss.
We, ourselves, would probably say we were part of the IWC (internet wrestling community) at one point, and it was easy to be quite critical of the product. Why? Because it was bad. With Vince McMahon at the helm, there were so many different things to be unhappy with, and it was easy to understand why the masses were turning away from WWE.
We aren’t here to say that Triple H’s version of running things is absolutely perfect, but given how many great stories are still being told right now, we do think it’s insanely harsh to even remotely compare this to WM31 – which had an objectively terrible build.
WWE is still on top
We aren’t denying that some matches feel a bit thrown together, which is always going to happen when you’ve got so much to focus on around WrestleMania season. However, we still think that we should be able to shine a light on a lot of the great things that are currently taking place.
Naomi/Cargill is a great story. Rhodes/Cena is a great story. The triple threat main event is a great story. Both women’s title matches are intriguing in their own way. Priest and McIntyre have worked hard to make their match seem fun. El Grande Americano is silly but it works. Gunther/Uso is finally coming into its own with an entertaining story.
We understand that things haven’t worked out how a lot of people would’ve liked (hello Dwayne), but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy what we’ve got.
Buckle up, folks, because it’s the best time of the year to be a wrestling fan.
