Martin Bakole narrowly escaped dropping his second straight loss inside the square circle, going to a majority draw against Efe Ajagba during the Canelo vs. Scull undercard in Riyadh.
Ajagba largely dominated the first three rounds, but Bakole finally started to turn it up with 30 seconds left in the third, lighting up Ajagba with a flurry of strikes against the ropes. That continued into the fourth with Bakole going on the attack and landing an especially nasty left hook.
The footwork Ajagba displayed in the first couple stanzas has seemingly disappeared. Instead, he’s opting to lie on the ropes and cover up while Bakole tees off.

Despite giving up some momentum in the middle rounds, Ajagba started to pick up the pace and frustrated the big man with his foot movement. Near the halfway point of the eighth, Bakole stood in the center of the ring and dropped his hands, taunting Ajagba and trying to bait him into a slugfest in the center of the ring. Ajagba declined, which prompted Bakole to march forward and drop some bombs against the ropes.

Likely down on the scorecards going into the 10th and final round, Bakole was in chase mode for the final three minutes. Ajagba was content to dance around the ring and avoid getting into a brawl, but he nearly got caught against the ropes near the halfway point of the final stanza.
Unable to track down Ajagba, the final few seconds ticked off the clock, bringing an end to a bout that nobody expected to go the distance.

Official Result: Efe Ajagba vs. Martin Bakole is ruled a majority draw (96-94, 95-95, 95-95)
