After the surprising news that former UFC and boxing world champion Holly Holm has signed with Jake Paul‘s new promotion, Most Valuable Promotions. The now 42-year-old fighter made an unexpected move after she requested her release from the UFC, which was granted to her. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, the former champion explained her reasoning for making her return to the boxing ring with the following:

“I like to be somewhere where there’s also an equal amount of excitement and their excitement of wanting me to be with them. I just feel like it was just something that—it just made sense. I don’t know why. There was really no reason for me to go somewhere else. You know, this just made sense. I’m excited to get back, they’re excited to put the fight on, and they’ve obviously put their efforts to get females on these cards and televised.”

“I signed for more than one fight. So I’m just focusing on boxing right now.

Jake Paul and his new promotion have greatly liked promoting women’s boxing. So for an older to be signed to the recently revitalized women’s boxing scene under Jake Paul is no surprise. However, it is a pleasant addition to help build up women’s boxing.

Holly Holm with boxing titles.

Holly Holm is the name that women’s boxing needs right now.

Holly Holm is considered the most outstanding female boxer of her generation. Having found success in the sport in the mid-2000s to the early 2010s before transitioning to mixed martial arts, I also became a world champion. Now that she’s returning to her roots in her 40s, one can only speculate what the future holds for the decorated martial artist now that she is back in boxing.
