Khalil Rountree Jr has hit back at Jamahal Hill for suggesting that the former title contender is not on his level.

On Saturday night, Khalil Rountree Jr will battle Jamahal Hill in the main event of UFC Baku. While there’s no guarantee, the belief is that a big win and finish for one of the two men could lead them down the path of receiving another UFC light heavyweight championship opportunity.

The majority of fans and pundits are expecting excitement. Jamahal Hill is a former champion, and Khalil Rountree Jr wasn’t too far away from springing an upset in his own championship opportunity against Alex Pereira. Regardless of which side you fall into, it’s safe to say that Azerbaijan is getting a good one for their first ever UFC main event.

In a recent interview, Khalil Rountree Jr opened up on comments made recently by Jamahal Hill where he suggested that Khalil isn’t on his level.

Khalil Rountree Jr’s thoughts on Jamahal Hill’s recent comments

“I think it’s a mixture of a lot of things, but it’s also not the first time I’ve heard this. I heard it against Alex, we’ve heard it against Jiri—‘Alex is not on my level, Jiri not on my level, Khalil’s not on my level.’ So I’m just gonna leave it at that. Where is the level? I get what you’re saying. I’m prepared.”

One thing we can expect to see, and we’re simplifying matters here, is violence. These two men know how to strike and they know how to put someone’s lights out.

For current UFC light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev, this is an opportunity to see how two rising contenders deal with the pressure of wanting to fight for the belt. At the very least, we’ll get some answers regarding their direction in the division.
